SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 6, 2016) – As voted on by the league's coaches on Wednesday, junior Michael Williams (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) was named Southern Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week. It's the third straight week an ETSU Track and Field earned this recognition.
Williams at the Florida Relays last weekend posted a personal best time of 51.91 in the 400 meter hurdles to finish 12th out of 53 runners. The time posted by Williams in the 400mH is the fastest time in the SoCon this season.
The Mt.Laurel, N.J., native also holds the fastest time in the SoCon in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.75, posted at the Charlotte 49er Classic back on March, 17.
Williams joins senior Ashley Kessler (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman Kyra Atkins (Greer, S.C.) as the only ETSU Track and Field student-athletes to be named SoCon Outdoor Athlete of the Week this season.
ETSU and Williams will continue the outdoor season on Friday, April 8 in Boone, N.C. for the App State Outdoor Open.
