Williams has the fastest time in the SoCon in the 400 meter hurdles
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 5, 2016) – On Thursday the Southern Conference named junior Mike Williams (Mt.Laurel, N.J.) Outdoor Track Athlete of the Month for April as voted on by the leagues coaches.
Williams capped off the month of April by coming away victorious in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.78 at the Georgia Invitational in Athens, Ga. A week earlier, Williams finished fifth in the 400mH with a collegiate best time of 51.27.
During the month of April the Mt.Laurel, N.J., native recorded four top five finishes along with being named SoCon Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Apr.20-26.
Within the Southern Conference, Williams has the fastest time in the 400mH and is third fastest in the SoCon in the 110 meter hurdles, 200 meter and 400 meter dash. His mark of 51.27 is the 12th fastest time in the NCAA East Region and 27th fastest overall in the NCAA.
It is the second straight month the ETSU Track and Field program has garnered Athlete of the Month honors as senior pole vaulter Ashley Kessler earned the SoCon Field Athlete of the Month for March.
Williams and ETSU will return to action next weekend for the 2016 Southern Conference Championships in Cullowhee, N.C.
