NEW ORLEANS (April 3, 2017) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its first edition of the regional rankings on Monday with the ETSU men’s track and field program ranked 18th in the south region.
The Buccaneers are the second highest ranked team within the Southern Conference behind Samford who ranks 14th in the South region.
After the first month of the outdoor season, the men’s squad has five athletes ranked in the top 50 in the NCAA East Region and three ranked in the top 50 in the NCAA.
One of the leaders in the field for the men’s team is senior Brett Squibbs (Rock Hill, S.C.) who ranks 20th in the NCAA in pole vault and ninth in the NCAA East Region with a mark of 5.20m (17’ 0.75”). The mark set by Squibbs ties the ETSU Outdoor pole vault record set by Squibbs back in 2014.
On the track, the Bucs are led by senior Matthew Moore (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) who ranks 40th in the NCAA in the 100m dash while ranking 21st in the NCAA East Region with a personal best time of 10.46.
