KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 6, 2017) – After one day of events at the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., senior Nathan Rivera (Knoxville, Tenn.) is fifth in the decathlon with a point total of 3,365.
Rivera will conclude the decathlon on Friday with the 100m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin and 1500m. The decathlon begins on the track with the 100mH at 10:00 a.m.
To begin day one, Rivera finished seventh in the 100m dash with a time of 11.14. The competition then switched to the field where Rivera recorded a mark of 6.51m to finish fifth in the long jump. In shot put, Rivera posted a mark of 11.34m (37’ 2.50”) to finish fifth.
Ending day one, Rivera had his best finish of the day in the high jump, recording a third place finish with a mark of 1.83m (6’ 00”). The Knoxville, Tenn., native finished out the day on the track in the 400m finishing seventh with a time of 54.36.
