Johnson City, Tenn. - Head women's soccer coach Heather Puckett announced that Melissa Wilder (Mount Airy, Md.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Buccaneer program.

Wilder, a senior at Glenelg High School, has earned four varsity letters for head coach Mike Williams. A quick striking forward, Wilder has led her team in scoring twice. She led her team to the Maryland High School Championship three times and served as team captain during her senior season.

An All-County honoree, Wilder also earned a Maryland Scholar Athlete Award. She plays club soccer for head coach Dennis Krupa and the Maryland Majestic. Wilder led the Premier League team to the state finals two consecutive years. Wilder has also competed in Maryland's Olympic Development Program for the past three years.

A fine all-around student athlete, Wilder also excels in track & field. She won the state title in the 200 meters, 300 meters and 400 meters.

"We are excited that Melissa is joining our program," Puckett said. "With her speed and attacking mentality, she will blend with our returning forwards to create and convert on numerous attacking opportunities."
