ATHENS, Ga. -- The 17th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs completed a two-game sweep of visiting East Tennessee State Sunday, posting a 12-1 win.
Georgia (2-0) took advantage of 12 walks including two with the bases loaded for a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. ETSU starter Matt Hensely did not escape trouble in the second as Georgia added eight runs for a 10-0 advantage. Hensely (0-1) allowed five runs on one hit with seven walks. By contrast, Georgia junior right-hander Rob Moravek (1-0) was sharp in his 2001 debut, throwing five innings, surrending one run on four hits. Moravek walked one and struck out seven.
The eight-run outburst by the Bulldogs included a two-run single by redshirt freshman designated hitter Blake Bodenmiller and a two-run double by senior third baseman Andy Neufeld.
ETSU got on the board in the fifth when shortstop Jeremy Terry (2-4) delivered a two-out double, scoring Kirk Keithley who had reached on Moravek's lone walk of the afternoon.
The Bulldog bullpen came on in the sixth and four pitchers combined to blank the Buccaneers (2-5) the rest of the way. They surrendered just one hit, no walks and struck out four.
