Women's Golf in Sixth After First Round of Southern Conference Championships

Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 21, 2002) -- The East Tennessee State women's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships from Wescott Plantation in North Charleston, S.C. ETSU fired a 317 in Sunday's first round, 19 strokes behind the first round leaders, the Furman Paladins. East Tennessee State senior Mimmie Dymling (Sollentuna, Sweden) led the Bucs in the first-round, shooting a 75 to tie for seventh at 3-over par. Freshman Alysa Few (London, Ontario) was the second Buccaneer finisher in Sunday's first round, tying for 17th after shooting a 8-over-par 80. A trio of Buccaneers ranks in a tie for 22nd after the first round of play. Senior Catalina Zuluaga (Cali, Colombia), sophomore Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville, Tenn.) and freshman Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia) each shot an 8-over-par 80 on Sunday. The Buccaneer women's golfers return to the links tomorrow morning for the second round of the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships from Wescott Plantation in North Charleston, S.C.
