ETSU Men's Tennis Attempt to Qualify for ITA All-American

Stone Mountain, Ga. -- The East Tennessee State men's tennis team is competing in the ITA-All American prequalifying tournament this weekend at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga. Due to rain, the first day of competition was delayed slightly. The Buccaneers' Francisco Diaz was the first to advance by defeating Sean O'Connor of University of California-Irvine, 6-4, 7-5. Also in first round action, Roberto Fernandez lost to Sansaruz Zaman of the University of Alabama-Birmingham by the score of 5-7, 1-6. Pablo Sahagun took on Andrew Harris from the University of Memphis. Sahagun advanced to the second round by winning the match 6-3, 6-2. Diaz had to face Baylor's Matias Marin in the second round. Marin defeats Diaz 6-2, 6-0. Andrew Harris of Samford University is set to play Sahagun next. Fernandez and Sahagun will compete on Saturday in the prequalifying doubles draw.
