Sunday, October 28, 2001Chattanooga, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State soccer team (2-13-1, 1-8 SoCon) was shut by the UT-Chattanooga (4-9-1, 2-5 SoCon) Lady Mocs Sunday night 0-2 in Chattanooga's senior day game. Goals were scored for the Lady Mocs by sophomore Oddbjorg Haugen and freshman Brooke Crandall. Crandall scored UTC's first goal just 4:40 in the game with an assist from teammate Nicole Sampier. The Lady Mocs' other goal would come in the first half with Haugen scoring off a pass from Crandall at the 37:48 mark. Several Buc players took shots during the game but junior Liz Smith tried to lively up the ETSU offense. Smith took three shots with two being on goal. ETSU's Katherine Gentry, Lisa Gallagher, Andrea Brown, Ashley Richards, Kristin Redfern and Melissa Wilder each had one shot on the night. The Bucs shot the ball nine times while Chattanooga took 13 shots. Three of ETSU's shots were on goal and Chattanooga had seven shots on goal. The Lady Mocs committed 10 fouls and the Bucs were charged with five fouls. Buc Goalkeeper Heather Sanden earned five saves on the evening. Last week, Sanden was ranked ninth in the nation in saves per game with 8.08 saves per game this season. The ETSU Buccaneers return home to celebrate senior day and take on the Wofford Lady Terriers at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4th at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex in Johnson City, Tenn.
