McCarley Leads Buccaneers to Fifth Place Finish at the Wachovia Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate

Waynesville, N.C. (October 22, 2002) - ETSU sophomore Robin McCarley (Johnson City, Tenn.) shot a team low 75 yesterday, and shot a 77 today to tie for 18th place and lead the Buccaneers to a fifth place finish at the Wachovia Great Smokies Women's Intercollegiate golf tournament. Host Western Carolina won the 26-team two-day tournament. Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville, Tenn.) and Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia, Canada) tied for 27th place after both shooting a 78 and a 76, respectively. Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) finished tied for 52nd shooting an 82 yesterday and a 77 in today's round. Alyssa Few (London, Ontario, Canada) tied for 57th shooting a 77 yesterday and finished the day shooting an 83. ETSU finished the tournament shooting a two round 614. The Buccaneers finished above Southern Conference opponents Appalachian State and Wofford. The Buccaneers will return to action November 1, as they travel to Puerto Rico to compete in a tournament hosted by Florida International University.
