(April 1, 2004) - East Tennessee State University senior Zakee Wadood (Lonoke, Ark.) earned honorable mention honors on the Associated Press All-America team released earlier this week. Along with averaging a team-high 8.0 rebounds and setting a single-season record for blocks with 70, Wadood was second on the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game and was selected as the Southern Conference Player of the Year by both the league's coaches and media. Wadood finished fourth in the country with 2.8 steals per game and 24th in the country with 2.1 blocks per game, while hitting on 43 percent of his shots from the field and collecting 92 steals for the season. In addition, Wadood was named first-team All-SoCon for the second-straight year after helping the Buccaneers to one of the best records in school history. ETSU finished the year 27-6 overall and nearly collected a perfect conference mark at 15-1. The Bucs won their second-straight SoCon Tournament title and went on to nearly upset No. 4-seeded Cincinnati, before falling 80-77 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
