JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 21, 2005 ) — East Tennessee State University strength coach Lee Morrow was recently selected by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association to join an elite group within their profession.
Morrow has received the title of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach and will be awarded this honor at the MSCC dinner and ceremony on
"I appreciate ETSU and the opportunity the administration has given me to work with a wide variety of people and athletes," Morrow said. "I have tried to make the weight room a place of work, but not a dungeon, so that our athletics will not dread working out. My favorite part of the job is our athletes. They really make it all worthwhile, and it truly makes my day when a former athlete comes back to visit."
Morrow has been a member of the Buccaneer staff since he was hired in January of 1982. In addition to strength coach, he has also had a variety of other responsibilities during his 20-plus years at ETSU, including academic advisor, interim baseball coach and game manager for basketball and football.
ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins said Morrow's service to ETSU is appreciated.
"Lee Morrow has done an outstanding job with our student-athletes as our strength and conditioning coach," Mullins said. "He is well-respected by the players for his expertise and particularly for his motivation and personal interest in their success. His positive contributions to our department, as well as to his profession, are appropriately recognized by this prestigious award."
