Lady Bucs softball completes day two action at Hokie Fastpitch Classic

BLACKSBURG, Va. (Mar. 19, 2005) - The ETSU softball squad fell 9-1 to host Virginia Tech, captured a 4-2 victory over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies and defeated North Dakota State, 9-4 in day two action at the Virginia Tech Hokie Fastpitch Classic in Blacksburg, Va. 

In the victory over St. Bonaventure, pitcher Belinda Barrera (Fayetteville, N.C.) pitched a complete game, allowed just seven hits in the victory, while Lady Bucs third baseman Lindsay Lane (Erwin, Tenn.) led the team with two hits at the plate.

Lane also had a big game against North Dakota State, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. Lane and Mary Beth Hazelwood (Knoxville, Tenn.) hit home runs in the vctory. Briana Knight (Brier, Wash.) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored against the Bison.

Courtney Jenkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out one.

East Tennessee State (10-16) returns to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. from the Hokie Fastpitch Classic in Blacksburg, Va., as the Lady Bucs face host Virginia Tech.
