The doubles portion of the tournament was able to finish up play before rain delayed the tournament for a little over an hour. In the Doubles A bracket ETSU newcomers Sandie Knight (Adamstown, Australia) and Elena Volobueva (Barcelona, Spain) defeated teammates Sylwia Ziolkowska (Warsaw, Poland) and Mariia Ilina (Kyiv, Ukraine) to win the bracket.
In the second tier, the team of Jewel Aldea (Charleston, S.C.) and Gemma Halim (Jakarta, Indonesia) defeated Western Carolina's Cotton and Harris 8-3 for the championship title.

Freshman Volobueva advanced to the finals of the Singles B bracket with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Victoria Moody of Appalachian State. In the finals she defeated Maria Nevarez of Tusculum College by a score of 6-2, 6-1. Nevarez defeated ETSU's Ilina 7-5, 6-1 to advance. Ilina then played a consolation match against Victoria Moody of Appalachian State where she won 6-3, 6-0.

"I'm happy with our play in this tournament," commented head coach Steve Brooks. "Everyone played a lot of matches and gained some good experience. We played a total of 24 matches and only lost two of those matches to non-ETSU opponents. We now know what we need to work on this fall to get ready for the spring."
Up next in fall tournament action for the Bucs is a trip to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Tournament on Friday, Oct. 8.
