(Nov. 12, 2004) - In a match lasting just over an hour, the Lady Bucs swept the UNC-Greensboro Spartans tonight in Brooks Gymnasium (30-27, 30-23, 30-16) to win their fourth Southern Conference match of the season. With the loss, UNCG falls to 3-30, 0-15 in SoCon play in 2004, while ETSU improves to 6-22, 4-11 in conference action. Leading the way for the Bucs was freshmen middle hitter Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Co.) with 12 kills while Cindy VanDervoort led the way for the Spartans with 11 kills and four digs in the loss.
ETSU took control of the match from the start as Kiselich posted four kills in the first set en-route to the 30-27 Lady Bucs victory. Both teams struggled from the offensive end as UNCG hit just .163 compared to the .128 hitting percentage of the Bucs. Game two saw ETSU take the early lead, however UNCG battled back to tie the score at the 12-point mark. Behind the service of right-side hitter Andrea Piercy (
After the intermission ETSU came out firing taking the immediate 12-7 lead. Behind the combined service efforts of Piercy and Mislan, the lead extended to 14-8 before the Spartans rallied for three unanswered points to near the score at 14-11. From that point the Lady Bucs sailed to the easy 30-16 win and the 3-0 match sweep.

ETSU will continue action tomorrow when they face Elon in Southern Conference action beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Brooks Gymnasium. Tomorrow's match will also host Senior Day festivities beginning at 1:20 p.m.
