Monday, November 20, 2006

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 20, 2006) - After dropping its first three games of the season, the ETSU women's basketball team will be searching for its first win of the year Tuesday night when they host Appalachian State in Memorial Center. This game will mark the 66th all-time meeting between the programs, and the 29th consecutive season these old SoCon rivals will meet.

The Lady Bucs will look to avenge last year's 12-point loss to the Mountaineers when they defeated ETSU, 85-73 on Dec. 21, 2005 at the Holmes Center. This series started during the Lady Bucs first-ever season in 1968-69, and the 65 games played against Appalachian State is the second-longest in ETSU women's basketball history (Chattanooga, 67 times). Appalachian State leads the all-time series 34-31.

Junior Michele DeVault (Columbus, Ohio) and freshman Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) are coming off their best game of the season against Davidson Friday night. DeVault matched her career high by scoring 21 points, and Evans put up career-bests with 16 points, nine rebounds, six steals and five assists. Both are leading the Lady Bucs in double figures with DeVault averaging 15.7 points per game and Evans averaging 11.0.
