JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 6, 2007) -The ETSU softball team had its 3rd annual Blue/Gold game Saturday as the Gold team defeated the Blue team 8-3 at Metro Kiwanis Park.

The Blue team jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first scoring two runs, but the gold team would answer in the bottom half, tying the score at two. The Blue team would scratch across another run in the second inning, but would not be able to score again.

The Gold team evened things up in the bottom of the second as Katy Jett (Talbot, Tenn.), hit a solo blast with two outs. The game would remain tied until the bottom of the fifth when freshman Katie Henderson (Jackson, Tenn.), smashed a two-run shot, putting Gold up 5-3.

The Gold team would plate three more runs in the sixth inning as the Blue squad could not find an answer to cool the Gold bats. Henderson had five RBI in the game, and Amanda Haverman (Kirkwood, Mo.) earned the win.

The game marked the end of the fall season for the Bucs. ETSU will open the spring on the road against Furman Feb. 9.
