Last two days of Frost Classic cancelled due to wet weather

Saturday, February 28, 2009

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 28, 2009) - Due to heavy rains and more wet weather expected to hit the Chattanooga area, the remaining two days of the 2009 Frost Classic have been cancelled.

The Lady Bucs, who finished the rain-shortened tournament with a perfect 2-0 mark, were scheduled to play Morehead State and Princeton on Saturday. ETSU was going to close out play with Rhode Island Sunday morning.

Fortunately, ETSU was able to get two games in on Friday after knocking off Boston College (7-4) and hung on to defeat Toledo (5-4).

Kate Powell (Johnson City) and Katy Jett (Talbott, Tenn.) led the Lady Bucs at the dish, while juniors Marissa Hardy (Rocklin, Calif.) and Darci Gilbert (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) both tossed complete games and earned wins. Powell and Jett each went 3-for-7 (.429) and Jett scored five of the 12 Lady Buccaneer runs.

ETSU will now head back to Johnson City before traveling to South Carolina to face Charleston Southern on Saturday, March 7.
