JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 12, 2009) - Head ETSU softball coach Andrea Mangrum announced Monday that former Lady Buccaneer standout Tiffany McVay will be a guest instructor for its winter softball clinic, which will be held the next two Saturday's. These clinics will be broken up into two age group sessions and feature pitching, catching, and hitting drills, which will be taught by ETSU players and coaches. Please see additional information below regarding location, dates and times.
The 12 and under clinic will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 17 from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. There will be a pitching/catching session that lasts from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and then a hitting clinic will follow from 12:30-3 p.m. The 13 and over clinic will run Saturday, Jan. 24, and follows the same time schedule.
There will be a cost of $30 for the pitching/catching session, as well as for the hitting clinic. Please register for the 12 and under clinic by Thursday, Jan. 15 and Thursday, Jan. 22 for the 13 and over sessions. A non-refundable deposit of $15 is due at the time of the registration date; while the remaining balance can be paid on the day of the clinic if you choose not to pay the entire balance on the day of the registration deadlines. Check-in time for both camps begins at 8:30 a.m. Make all checks payable to ETSU Softball and contact Coach Mangrum for any other details.
When filling out the registration form please be aware there are five experience levels for the pitching clinic. It is important that you note the following color on the registration sheet beside the pitching session you are attending:
Pink—1 year or less of experience (beginner)
Gray—1-3 years of experience with no private instruction (low intermediate)
Gold—3-5 years of experience with private instruction (high intermediate)
Blue—5 years or more of experience with private instruction (advanced)
Every level of pitcher will advance at this camp. All catchers will work together on their skills separately. Catchers and hitters will be grouped according to age during the clinic sessions. Catchers need to bring their gear and hitters need their bat.

During her stint as the Virginia Tech pitching coach, McVay had the privilege in coaching the 2008 USA National Player of the Year Angela Tincher. Tincher was the catalyst of Virginia Tech's staff as she posted back-to-back 38-win campaigns in 2007 and 2008, and the Hokies mounted the nation's third-lowest ERA (1.28) during McVay's first-year with the club.
