JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 20, 2008) - The ETSU volleyball team shutout the league leading North Florida Ospreys Saturday afternoon at Brooks Gym, 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 26-24).

"We said to the girls that they had a decision to make on whether they wanted to be 4-14 or 14-4," said head coach Lindsey Devine. "I told each one of them that we had to learn from last night, because there were some good things we can take away from that game, and we came out and played well today."

The Bucs (4-8, 1-4 A-Sun) were led by Jamie Stancliff (Advance, N.C.) who had nine kills in the match. Erin Ryan (Davie, Fla.) and Lauren Baufield (Plymouth, Minn.) each tallied seven kills for ETSU.

Sophomore Whitney Cogburn (Kingsport, Tenn.) quarterbacked the Buc offensive leading the team with 26 assists. Defensively Jen Neice (Allen, Texas) led ETSU in the back with 12 digs.

"One thing that really surprises me about this team, is that when we play disciplined and use good fundamental blocking skills we are a solid wall out there," Devine said. "We wanted to serve aggressively in order to take out there middles, and it worked well for us."

The Bucs are back in action on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. as they will head to DeLand, Fla. to take on conference opponent Stetson. Please visit www.ETSUBucs.com for more information on ETSU volleyball or any other Buccaneer athletic team.
