JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 6, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team came up short in a 20-16 slugfest against Eastern Kentucky Wednesday night at Cardinal Park.

Eric Sanders picked up the win for EKU (13-14, 3-3 OVC) going 1.1 innings allowing two runs on two hits.

The Colonels grabbed a 4-0 lead in the top of the first scoring four runs on four hits including a two-run home run by Ryan Faidley.
EKU increased its lead to 7-0 in the second after a RBI single by Richie Rodriguez and a two-run home run by Jayson Langfels.
ETSU got on the board in the bottom half of the inning cutting the Eastern Kentucky lead to 7-1 on a Bo Reeder (
After holding the Colonels scoreless in the third, the Bucs cut the EKU lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the third. With one out, Chas Byrne (
In the fourth, EKU exploded for five runs on two hits highlighted by a grand slam by Michael Garcia to make the score 12-3 Colonels.
The Buccaneers answered scoring six runs on six hits including a two-run inside the park by Michael Gonzalez (Jupiter,
The Colonels got a run in the fifth on a RBI single by Richie Allen to make the score 13-9.
Hoilman brought the score to 13-10 in the bottom of the fifth as he doubled to right scoring Scruggs.
EKU increased its lead to 14-10 in the sixth on a RBI single by Joey Stevens.
The Bucs continued the back and forth night as they cut the Colonels lead back to three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI single by shortstop Jamie Crawford (Kingsport, Tenn.).
The Colonels busted the game open in the seventh scoring five runs on five hits to take a 19-11 lead. A two-run single by Faidley highlighted the inning for EKU.
ETSU scored three runs on three hits in the seventh to bring the score to 19-14 after back-to-back home runs by Trent and Reeder.
In the eighth, the Bucs came within three runs after RBI singles by Garrett May (Marietta, Ga.) and Trent to make the score 19-16.
Stevens closed out the scoring with an RBI single in the ninth to make the final 20-16.
The Bucs are back in action tomorrow at 3 p.m. as they close out the series with
