KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Feb. 22, 2010) - Moving into a tie for second place on the individual leaderboard, ETSU senior Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) and sophomore Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) helped power the ETSU women's golf team to a second place showing on the team leaderboard following second round play in the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic Monday at the Oak Point Golf Club.
The Buccaneers find themselves tied with East Carolina, and just four strokes back of first place Augusta State heading into Tuesday's third and final round. Individually, Muehl first a team-best 70 and O'Sullivan posted a 71 in the second round, as the two finished tied for second individually behind Oral Roberts' Crystal Reeves.
"Nina and Sinead played very well today, and we're right there in contention as a team," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. "If we can play well from top to bottom in our lineup tomorrow, we will have a great shot at winning. That's always our goal."
Along with Muehl and O'Sullivan, ETSU sophomore Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) finished tied for 40th on Tuesday after posting a 79, while senior Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) also carded the same score for the day.
