ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Oct. 25, 2010) - Senior Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) and junior Devin Komline (Dorset, Vt.) each fired rounds of 74 to lead the Bucs on day two of the U.S. Collegiate Championships, Monday afternoon.
The duo got off to a slow start to their rounds after combining to go 5-over on the front nine. They both bounced back, however, as the two combined for a 1-under on their second nine. O'Kane leads the way for the Bucs as he sits in a tie for 40th at +5 (75-74—149). Komline is tied for 64th at +10 (80-74—154) in the 78-player field.
The Bucs are in12th position on the team leaderboard in the 15-team field after finishing with a 302 (+14) team score on the second day at the 7,017-yard, par-72 The Golf Club of Georgia layout. ETSU shot 300 in their opening round on Sunday.
No. 17 ranked and host Georgia Tech has the team lead after two days following a 271 (-17) on Sunday and a 3-under 285 today. They are at 20-under overall and lead the event by 11-shots over USC (9-under). No. 16 Texas A&M is in third at 6-under, No. 3 UCLA is currently fourth at 3-under, while No. 13 California rounds out the top-five at +5. The event, which is considered one of the tops in college golf, features 11 teams ranked in the top-40 of the national rankings.
James White of Georgia Tech has the individual lead as he fired an impressive first-round 10-under 62 on Sunday and followed it up with a solid 2-under 70 this afternoon. White sits at 12-under overall and owns a six shot lead over Steve Lim of USC (6-under). Jordan Russell of Texas A&M follows in third place at 5-under overall.
ETSU freshman Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.) joined Komline on Monday with a second round 75 (+3) and is tied for 54th. Lawson had two birdies and five bogeys during his round.
Junior Peter Wilson (Locust Valley, N.Y.) finished his second round with a 79 after leading the Bucs with a 1-over 73 on Sunday. He is tied for 54th alongside Lawson after two rounds. Sophomore Patrick Spraggs (Rochford, England) shot 81 to round out the scoring for the Bucs on Monday.
