OXFORD, Miss. (April 2, 2011) - Freshman Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) posted a team-best score of even par 72, leading the way for the ETSU women's golf team during Saturday's second round action in the Rebel Intercollegiate at the Ole Miss Golf Course.
Evans' effort helped her move into a tie for 23rd on the individual leaderboard, which is the best showing by an ETSU player so far in the event. As a team, however, the Buccaneers have struggled and are currently 14th on the team leaderboard.
Tennessee's Nathalie Mansson currently leads the event at 5-under-par 139 (72-67), holding a one stroke lead over her teammate Erica Popson. The Volunteers were also not in a mood to share any space atop the team leaderboard, posting a score that was 14 strokes better than any other team and building a 24-stroke edge over second place Tulsa heading into Sunday's third and final round.
Along with Evans, ETSU senior Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) is currently tied for 36th and junior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) is currently 54th.
The Bucs will wrap up play with third round action Sunday. Live scoring and results can be found at GolfStat.com, and ETSUBucs.com will have a complete recap at the end of each day's play.
