JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 8, 2011) – The 2011 ETSU women’s soccer season has officially arrived as head coach Adam Sayers and his staff got preseason training underway.

On Thursday, all 25 student-athletes on the active roster – nine freshmen, nine sophomores, four juniors and three seniors – reported to Summers-Taylor Stadium for the first time under Coach Sayers. The first year head coach will look to improve upon the program’s 8-7-3 mark from a season ago.

Sayers’ first look at his new team in game form will come Tuesday, when the women’s soccer team will play in their first exhibition match of the 2011 season. Their opponent will be former Atlantic Sun rival, Campbell University. The Campbell women’s soccer program is starting their first year in the Big South Conference.

Last year, the ETSU women’s soccer team defeated Campbell, 2-0, in Johnson City. Returning forward Ramey Kerns (Kings Mountain, N.C.) scored both goals for the Bucs in the shutout victory.
