JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 14, 2012) – The ETSU duo of Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) and Rhys Pugh (Pontypridd, Wales) have been named to the preliminary Great Britain and Ireland squad for the St. Andrews Trophy Match which will be played at Portmarnock Golf Club, Ireland, on August 31 and September 1.
Enoch and Pugh were two of only 12 players selected to the team as they join several college golfers including Kevin Phelan of Atlantic Sun foe North Florida.
The Great Britain and Ireland squad will take on the Continent of Europe with just nine players from each squad making the final cuts for the event.
Enoch and Pugh currently have the two lowest stroke averages for the Bucs. Enoch leads the team with a 73.6 average and is coming off a second place finish at the Sea Best Invitational – earning him Atlantic Sun Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Pugh is second on the squad with a 75.8 stroke average, including an 18th place finish at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at Blackthorn Club.
The Bucs will be back in action beginning on Sunday with the opening round of the Puerto Rico Classic. The three-day event will conclude on Tuesday.
