CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 14, 2012) – The ETSU men’s and women’s track and field teams will open the outdoor season on Thursday when they travel to the 49er Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.
The meet begins with the heptathlon and decathlon starting at 11:30 a.m., on Thursday, and concludes with the men’s and women’s 4x400m at 4:30 p.m., on Saturday. Other events throughout the meet include the hammer throw, javelin, discus, long jump, pole vault, 100m hurdles, 100m dash, 200m dash, 400m hurdles, 400m dash, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, 2000m steeplechase and 3000m steeplechase.
Over 50 teams with be joining the Bucs and Charlotte for the three-day event, including men’s and women’s teams from Clemson, Davidson, Furman, NC State, Pittsburgh, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate and Western Carolina.
This will be ETSU’s second-consecutive visit to the 49er Classic having participated in the event last year as well. The last time ETSU traveled to the Charlotte meet before that was in 2008.
