SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 21, 2012) – The ETSU women’s tennis team opened up the USC Upstate Fall Classic with good results on Friday, as all four Buccaneers who made the trip won their singles matches and the duo of Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and Sofia Espana (Mexico City, Mexico) advanced to the semifinals in doubles action.
Choo, Espana, Kelsey Williams (Sunbury, Australia) and Jessica Brumit (Elizabethton, Tenn.) all began play in singles competition, and won each of their respective opening round matches.
“This was a very satisfying first day by all,” ETSU assistant coach Travis Sandlant said. “We’re looking forward to some tougher matches tomorrow.”
Saturday’s second round singles action begins at 9 a.m. Choo and Espana will play in the doubles semifinals at 1 p.m.
