KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 28, 2012) – A pair of first-year players helped power the ETSU women’s golf team during first and second round action Sunday in the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Oak Point Golf Club.
The event – which was postponed near the end of the second round due to darkness and is scheduled to conclude on Monday – is currently being led by No. 35 Campbell at 1-over-par 577. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are in second place and stand at 14-over-par as a team with a handful of holes remaining to wrap up their second round of play.
True freshman Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) was impressive on the day, posting a team-best score of 1-over 73 in the first round and is currently at even par in the second round with two holes remaining. For her efforts, Chin stands tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard.
Meanwhile, her teammate and fellow first-year Buccaneer Lourdes Lopez (Cadiz, Spain) is currently tied for 14th. The junior transfer carded a 75 in the first round and was also at even par when play was ended for the day. Individually, Chin and Lopez are chasing Campbell’s Teresa Urquizu, who wrapped up her first two rounds of action at 3-under-par 141 to lead the event.
Other ETSU results included a tie for 29th by sophomore Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany), a tie for 41st by senior Chloe Garner (Somerset West, South Africa), and a tie for 49th by junior Sian Evans (Gillingham, England).
