JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 11, 2012) – The Memorial Park Community Center opened last Saturday in Johnson City, and the ETSU women’s basketball team was there to lend a hand to its community by offering sport clinics for kids.
The Memorial Park Community Center – covering 67,000 square feet and located at 510 Bert St. – had its first day of full activities on Monday. Opening day festivities took place two days prior, with activities such as crafts, letters to Santa and the sport clinics offered by the Lady Bucs and Science Hill High School volleyball team.
“The Lady Bucs basketball team felt extremely honored to participate in such a wonderful event for the community,” ETSU head coach Karen Kemp said. “The Memorial Park Community Center is a beautiful addition to Johnson City, providing a place for citizens to partake in everything from Spanish lessons to sewing classes and even Zumba. We truly enjoyed getting to work with a group of about 50 boys and girls in the new gym, and we encourage everyone to check out the new center.”
The ETSU women’s basketball team will be back in action on Thursday, heading to Baton Rouge, La., to take on LSU.
