MACON, Ga. (Feb. 13, 2013) – ETSU men’s track and field senior Jason Johnson (Philadelphia) was honored by the Atlantic Sun Conference on Wednesday, being named A-Sun Men’s Field Athlete of the Week following his impressive performance in the triple jump over the weekend.
Johnson – the reigning A-Sun indoor and outdoor triple jump champion – marked a distance of 14.90m Saturday at Clemson’s Tiger Paw Invitational, taking second place in the event. The senior’s leap was a season-best, moving him to a No. 2 ranking in the conference.
Johnson’s other triple jump finish this year was third place, which he earned at the 35th annual Niswonger Invitational with a distance of 14.68m.
The weekly honors are the first of Johnson’s collegiate career.
The ETSU men’s and women’s track & field teams get back to action next weekend, Feb. 22-23, hosting the Atlantic Sun Indoor Championships at the MSHA Athletics Center.
