JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 4, 2014) – ETSU student-athletes not only enjoyed a lot of success on the playing field this past semester, but also put up high marks in the classroom as the Buccaneer Academic Services Department released their spring academic numbers on Wednesday.
As a group, ETSU student-athletes registered a 3.19 cumulative grade-point-average, while 34 Buccaneers recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA and 92 student-athletes earned Dean’s List (3.7+ GPA) honors.
“This is a great time of the year as we not only see a number of our student-athletes graduate, but also continue the tradition of success in the classroom,” said Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services Charvi Greer. “The success of this semester can be attributed to the discipline of every student-athlete and the encouragement of coaches, administrators, and faculty alike. I believe seeing such high numbers motivates the excellent group of current students to achieve even more success, and we certainly look forward to seeing that in the future.”
Along with winning its seventh Bill Bibb Atlantic Sun All-Sports Trophy last month, nearly 70-percent of ETSU’s student-athletes (188 total) also received A-Sun All-Academic honors, while 11 Buccaneer teams earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
