McDuffie, Childress Lead Bucs Past Western Carolina, 62-55

CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - D.J. McDuffie and Dimeco Childress scored 15 points each as East Tennessee State beat Western Carolina, 62-55, on Saturday (Jan. 13).

Western Carolina cut the ETSU lead to 55-52 with 4:02 remaining after Ricky Gandy scored nine straight points and Casey Rogers drained a 3-pointer.

ETSU was only 3-of-8 from the foul line down the stretch but held on by keeping Western Carolina scoreless until Gandy hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds left.

The Bucs shot poorly, connecting on 35.1 percent from the field, but took 31 foul shots, making 19. ETSU stayed ahead by pulling down 21 offensive rebounds on the way to a 46-31 advantage on the glass.

Willie Freeman led the Catamounts with 17 points and nine rebounds. Gandy and Rogers each scored 15 points.
