Men's Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision to Charleston Southern

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State men's tennis team continued their weekend road trip as they fell to Charleston Southern 4-3 in men's tennis action yesterday afternoon from Charleston, S.C.

The singles matches were split as each team claimed three to remain tied. The doubles matches proved to be the deciding point as Charleston Southern took two, to take the doubles point and the match, 4-3 over the Bucs.

At No. 1 singles, Gustavo Gomez won his 18th consecutive match by defeating Thomas Miho 6-4,6-4. Sandeep Reddy took the No. 2 singles match over Pablo Sahagun 6-0,6-2. The Bucs then took the next two singles matches. Juan Yannuzzi defeated Rodrigo Villaroal 6-4,6-4 at No. 3 singles and Roberto Fernandez took his No. 4 match over Rohan Wadehra 4-6,7-6,6-4. Charleston Southern answered quickly as Ariel Furfuro defeated Antonio Bugge 7-6,3-6,6-4 at No. 5 singles. The final singles match of the afternoon saw Santiago Falla defeat Francisco Diaz 7-5,7-5

The first doubles match saw the team of Miho and Wadehra defeat Gomez and Fernandez 7-3 at No.1. Charleston Southern then clinched the win at No. 2 doubles as Reddy and Recheg defeated Sahagun and David Poole 7-3. The No.3 doubles match between was knotted at 4-4 but was not finished due to rain.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 8-8 overall.
