East Tennessee State Baseball Signs Michael Bauer to National Letter of Intent

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State University athletic department announced today that Michael Bauer has signed a National Letter of Intent to join head coach Tony Skole's baseball program for the 2002 season.
The 6-4, 175-pound right-handed pitcher can hit low 90s with his fastball. He is 9-3 with a 1.66 ERA during his senior season. The power pitcher has struck out 101 batters in 76 innings pitched. He has only walked 28 batters for a 3.6:1 strikeout/walk ratio.
At the plate, the Kingsport, Tenn. native, is hitting .447 with 25 RBIs for head coach Donnie Wall. He has also swiped 13 bases.
"We are extremely excited to have Michael in our baseball program," Skole said. "Michael really came on strong this year and has a very bright future ahead of him. We are pleased to have another fine pitcher in our program from Sullivan South High School. Michael has unlimited potential and will make an immediate contribution to our pitching staff."
Bauer joins Justin Clear (La Follette, Tenn.), Keith Davis (Bristol, Va.), Caleb Moore (Knoxville, Tenn.), Trevor Smith (Newport, Tenn.) and Matt Traylor (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the 2002 recruiting class.
