2000 Individual Review

The women's soccer program finished its fourth varsity season by posting its most successful season ever. The Bucs notched a school record six wins while posting a school- record 33 goals.
Second-year head coach Heather Henson guided a young team through a demanding schedule, enjoying team and individual triumphs along the way.
The following is an individual review of each player on the 2000 ETSU roster:
#0 Heather Sanden...The freshman goalkeeper started 11 matches, while playing in 12 contests...She posted her first collegiate win in a 3-2 overtime win against Radford (Sept.1)...she posted double-digit saves twice as she stopped 11 shots against Western Carolina (Oct. 10) and 10 shots against Middle Tennessee State (Oct. 29)... recorded a 2.33 goals against average. Recorded her first collegiate shutout in a 9-0 over South Carolina State (Oct. 3).
#1 Lauren Fannon ... The sophomore goalkeeper started in seven matches while playing in nine...Claimed her first win of the year in a 3-2 overtime win against Carson-Newman (Sept.9)...posted a season-high nine saves in a 3-2 loss to the College of Charleston (Oct. 16)...posted a 2.90 goals against average.
#2 Erin Lotzer... The freshman midfielder started 15 of 17 matches in her first season...scored her first career goal in a 3-2 win over Carson-Newman (Sept. 9)...Had three tallies, with goals against Tennessee Tech (Sept. 16) and UNC Asheville (Sept. 20) in addition to her goal against Carson-Newman(Sept.9).
#3 Louisa Sawyer... The sophomore played in 18 matches while starting four...scored one goal with a tally against Carson-Newman (Sept.9)... Had a season high six shots against South Carolina State (Oct. 3).
#7 Lisa Gallagher... The junior forward started all 18 matches this season ... scored four goals, with her first score coming in a 3-2 win over Radford (Sept.1)...notched two goals in a 9-0 win over South Carolina State (Oct. 3)...Tallied her final goal against Georgia Southern (Oct. 15.)...Third on team with 10 points.
#8 Rebekah Eisenberg... The senior midfielder started all 18 matches... she has started every game in ETSU history (72 matches)... scored two goals and had 21 shots...scored the first goal in a 4-1 win over UNC Asheville (Sept.20)... tallied ETSU's lone goal in a 5-1 loss against the Davidson (Oct. 22).
#10 Kate Bond... The senior midfielder played in 15 matches, making 5 starts... recorded seven shots... played in seven conference games, making three starts.
#11 Lena Summers... The junior midfielder started all18 matches... scored three goals...scored two goals in a 3-2 win over Radford (Sept. 1)...made two assists... took 16 shots.
#12 Carey Sheaffer ... The senior defender started all 18 matches... one of five ETSU players to start every game... registered one shot in 2-0 loss to Belmont (Sept. 5).
#13 Amber Ledbetter... The senior started 14 of 17 games...took five shots and contributed two assists on the season...spent the entire year as a defensive player after spending last season as the Buccaneer goalkeeper.
#14 Shawn O'Donnell...Freshman defender who played in 13 matches in her first collegiate season...scored her first collegiate goal in a 9-0 win over South Carolina State (Oct. 3).
#15 Kristin Redfern ... The junior forward started all 18 matches... set the single-season record with 18 points... tied the single-season record for goals at seven while contributing four assists ... scored two goals in ETSU's 3-2 loss to College of Charleston (Oct. 16) and in ETSU's win over UT-Martin (Sept. 23)... marked two game-winning goals.
#16 Corey Baer... The sophomore played in nine matches... garnered one shot on goal against Murray State (Sept. 24)...played in four conference matches...provided valuable reserve minutes.
#17 Melissa Wilder...Freshman forward who contributed immediately to the Buccaneer offense...played in 17 matches while starting in 13 matches... scored six goals...her first collegiate goal came in a 3-2 ETSU overtime win over Carson-Newman (Sept. 9)...Scored first career hat-trick and second hat-trick in ETSU history in 9-0 win over South Carolina State (Oct. 3)...finished second on team with 13 points... dished out one assist against UNC Greensboro.
#18 Elizabeth Smith... The sophomore midfielder started all 18 matches... set the single-season record while dishing out seven assists... unleashed 35 shots, 16 were shots on goal.
#19 Courtney Edde... The junior midfielder played in 13 matches while starting four... contributed four goals, while adding one assist... finished fourth on team with nine points.
#20 Andrea Brown...The freshman midfielder added much depth to the offensive attack...scored goals in matches against Murray State (Sept. 24) and South Carolina State (Oct. 3)...dished out five assists... recorded two assists against UNC Asheville (Sept.20).
#22 Jana Thomas... The sophomore defender played in 17 matches, making 7 starts... one of the best marking backs for ETSU.
#23 Sarah Cates... Played in two matches, the first being against South Carolina State (Oct. 3) and the second against Georgia Southern (Oct. 15)... used primarily as a forward and a midfielder.
