Tuesday, September 26, 2000

Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State women's soccer team has made some impressive strides while posting the best start in school history. The Bucs (5-4,0-2 SoCon), fresh off a school record three-game winning streak last week, will host conference rival Appalachian State on Thursday, September 28, at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex.

The Bucs are paced by junior Kristin Redfern, who leads the team with 11 points while scoring four goals and chipping in three assists. Redfern currently has a three-game goal-scoring streak. Freshmen Melissa Wilder and Erin Lotzer have also sparked the Buccaneer offense by tallying three goals each.

Sophomore Lauren Fannon has propelled the Bucs with her outstanding presence in goal. Fannon has posted a .725 save percentage while facing 29 shots.

The Bucs also have received stellar play in the midfield by junior Elizabeth Smith. Smith, along with teammate Andrea Brown have helped on eight Buccaneer goals this season as each have recorded four assists.
