Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 18, 2002) The East Tennessee State men's tennis team placed a singles player and a doubles team on the All-Southern Conference first team, announced Thursday from the SoCon Men's Tennis Championships from Charleston, S.C. Junior Marcos Pavlovich (Otamendi, Argentina) is a member of the All-Southern Conference first team. Pavlovich has now earned All-SoCon honors in all three of his seasons at ETSU. Pavlovich has recorded a 14-10 record in singles matches this season, playing at No. 1 the No.1 flight for the Bucs. Marcos has a 6-4 record in Southern Conference singles matches, running a six-match winning streak during mid-season. Pavlovich has been a consistent winner for the Buccaneers in his three years of play, racking up a 69-29 record in singles matches, including a 25-9 record in SoCon matches. The doubles team of Pavlovich and senior Roberto Fernandez (Cuernavaca, Mexico) were also named to the SoCon first-team. Pavlovich and Fernandez have an 11-6 record at No.1 doubles this season, including a perfect 8-0 record in SoCon matches. The duo is currently on a torrid streak, having won eight consecutive matches. The team's biggest win of the season was a victory over the No. 22-ranked doubles team of James Cameron and John Chesworth of Furman on Apr. 10. This marks the second time that Fernandez has been named All-Conference for his doubles play. The Southern Conference Men's Tennis Championships will continue through Sunday from the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel and the City of Charleston Farmfield Courts in Charleston, S.C.
