East Tennessee State University Announces 2002 Women's Soccer Schedule

Wednesday, June 26, 2002

Johnson City, Tenn. (June 26, 2002) - East Tennessee State University has announced its 2002 women's soccer schedule. This season the Buccaneers will host 10 home matches, including two key conference matches with UNC Greensboro and Western Carolina. ETSU will open the 2002 season on August 30 at Radford. The Bucs will play their first home match on September 2 against UNC Asheville, before opening the conference season September 5 at home against Appalachian State. "I am really excited about the upcoming season, I feel we have a great opportunity to take further steps with our program," said head soccer coach Heather Henson. "Unlike previous years we will have the opportunity to play in front of our home crowd, which makes a big difference in a tough Southern Conference. ETSU will return 12 players from last year's team in addition to 12 newcomers. "We posted the best winning percentage of any of the previous spring seasons and will return the core of that group," said Henson. "We have several incoming players who can step into the lineup this year. The competition for playing time in practice everyday will make us a better team."
