JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 29, 2003) -- Cecil Moore (Morristown, Tenn.), one of the most prolific receivers in East Tennessee State football history, agreed to terms on a free-agent contract with the New York Jets. He will sign the contract at the team's upcoming minicamp in East Rutherford, N.J. Moore was named to All-Southern Conference team for the second consecutive season and to Don Hansen's National Football Gazette Southeast Region Second Team following the 2002 campaign. He had 44 receptions for 682 yards and seven touchdowns in 2002, leading the Bucs in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns for the third-straight season. Moore scored the first points of the game, hauling in a touchdown pass from Oklahoma quarterback Nate Hybl, helping Team USA to a 20-17 victory over Team Florida. The Jets will open their 2003 schedule with a preseason game on August 2 against Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay in Tokyo, Japan. New York's regular season slate begins on Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. in the NFL season opener against the Washington Redskins on ABC.
