ETSU's Baldwin named SoCon men's golfer of the week

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 10, 2003) - East Tennessee State University men's golfer Chase Baldwin (Brandon, Fla.) has been named the Southern Conference men's golfer of the week for the week of April 9. Baldwin, a sophomore with a 74.1 stroke average this season, led the Buccaneers against an exceptionally strong field that included 14 ranked teams last week at the Cleveland Golf/Augusta State Invitational. Baldwin placed in a tie for 21st after finishing the event at 5-under par (71-68-72=211), and helped the Bucs to an 11th-place finish in the 17-team event. Baldwin and the rest of the Buccaneers will be in action again this weekend in their regular season finale at The Intercollegiate in Chapel Hill, N.C. ETSU is preparing for postseason play, which will begin April 18 at the Southern Conference Championships in Statesboro, Ga.
