ETSU women's golf team enjoys best finish of season
Kailey Brooks finished tied for 5th on the leaderboard. Tuesday, April 08, 2003 HATTIESBURG, Miss. (April 8, 2003) - Heavy rains postponed the final day of play at the Southern Miss Lady Eagle Invitational Tuesday at the Shadow Ridge Golf Club, with the East Tennessee State University women's golf team finishing in a tie for 3rd place with Samford University at 21-over-par. Individually with a 4-over-par 76, freshman Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario Canada) helped the Lady Bucs to their best finish of the season by tying for 5th on the individual leaderboard. Along with Brooks, sophomore Alysa Few (London, Ontario Canada) tied for 12th (38-39=78 +6), while sophomore Robin McCarley (Johnson City) and freshman Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) both finished tied for 15th at 7-over. Freshman Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) rounded out the Lady Bucs' effort tied for 28th at 9-over. Home-standing Southern Miss won the team event at 9-over-par, and Lady Eagle player Jennifer Keefe won the individual title (35-36=71 -1), followed by teammates Natasha Vincent, Ofelia Lopez and Brena Quaranto.
