Buccaneers to take on UNC Greensboro Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN2

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 3, 2003) - East Tennessee State University's men's basketball team will take their first step en route to a third straight regular season title as they open Southern Conference play Saturday against UNC Greensboro at 2 p.m. in a game that will be televised to a national audience on ESPN2. The Buccaneers, who enter tomorrow's game with a record of 6-5, are coming off of a 108-57 victory over Juniata. UNCG enters the game 3-8, coming off of an 81-74 loss to High Point University. ETSU split with the Spartans last season with both teams winning on their home floors. Note: The ETSU women's basketball team travels to Statesboro, Ga. to take on conference foe Georgia Southern Saturday at 7 p.m. Georgia Southern (7-3, 1-0)defeated the Lady Bucs by four in Johnson City and won in overtime last season in Statesboro 84-80. The Lady Bucs (3-7, 0-1) are coming off a 77-65 loss to Chattanooga Thursday night from Memorial Center.
