Johnson City, Tenn. (Dec. 5, 2002) - Former University of Tennessee at Martin women's softball coach Amy Fuller began her tenure as head coach of the East Tennessee State University squad this week. "I'm really excited about being here," said Fuller, who was a four-year letter winner for the University of North Carolina and won All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 1994. "I think the team here at ETSU has a lot of potential and this is a great conference to be competing in. This is a beautiful place to live and work." The 31-year-old Fuller earned her bachelors degree from UNC and received her teaching certificate later at UNC Charlotte. She also earned a masters degree in Education (School Counseling) from UT Martin in December 1999. Beyond her educational background, Fuller spent two seasons at UT Martin, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference, and led the Lady Skyhawks to a 16-22 season in 2001. She is taking over a Lady Bucs program that put together a solid season in 2001, going 25-32 overall, 9-12 in Southern Conference in just their second season of play. "This is a building program," said Fuller, who also enjoyed a stint as a player on the Silver Bullets Women's Professional Baseball Team before playing two seasons in the Women's Professional Softball League. "This is the third full year of the program and we have the potential to build this team into a powerhouse in the SoCon. We have a great recruiting base and this is a great school to recruit to."
