Friday, November 15, 2002

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 15, 2002) - East Tennessee State head baseball coach Tony Skole announced Friday the signing of Nick Hill (Bluff City, Tenn.) to a national letter of intent to play for the Bucs beginning in the 2004 season. Hill pitched 51 innings for Sullivan East High School last season as a junior, notching 80 strikeouts and accumulating a 2.59 ERA. This past summer, Hill played with the top players in East Tennessee on the elite Knoxville Thunder team, leading the club to a second place finish in the 2002 AAU World Series. Nick was named all-conference following his junior year and was an honorable mention to the team after his sophomore season. "What a great addition Nick will be to our university and baseball program," said Skole. "Nick is a super student-athlete that we have been following at Sullivan East High School for the last couple of years. We consider Nick to be the top left-hander pitcher in East Tennessee and one of the best in the entire state. Nick is a high quality young man and we are very pleased that very soon he will be enrolling at East Tennessee State."
