Saturday, September 28, 2002

Charleston, S.C. (September 28, 2002) -Cougar Stephanie Ballard nailed a season-high 20 kills as the College of Charleston defeated East Tennessee State, 3-0, in Southern Conference action Saturday. "We had some players playing in some new positions and really didn't develop much of a rhythm," said ETSU head coach Deane Webb. "They simply outplayed us in most facets of the game." The Buccaneers drop to 4-9 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Cougars move to 10-5, 3-2 in conference play. The College of Charleston held East Tennessee State to an average of 9.3 kills a game en route to the 30-16, 30-22, and 30-14 victories. Nicole Ryan (Etiwanda, Calif.) and Kate Steidle (Waynesboro, Va.) led the Buccaneer effort with 7 kills each. East Tennessee State will host UNC Asheville Tuesday Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. in Brooks Gym.
