Cheryl Howard places fifth in high jump; Buccaneers complete day one of Rod McCravy Memorial

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 7, 2003) - East Tennessee State University's track and field team completed day one of the Rod McCravy Memorial hosted by the University of Kentucky Friday. Day one showcased the distance medley relay and field events. Buccaneer junior Cheryl Howard (Wyalusing, Pa.) tied for fifth place with Miami of Ohio's Lindsay Hazen in the finals of the women's high jump, jumping 1.63 meters (5'04.25). Sophomore Kristin Truman (Johnson City, Tenn.) placed ninth in the triple jump, with a jump of 11.01 meters (36'01.50) and ETSU's women's distance medley relay team finished their race with a time of 12:51.26. The Buccaneers will return to action tomorrow for the final day of the Rod McCravy Memorial at Kentucky's Nutter Field House. Events are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with the final event to begin at 5:05 p.m.
