Buccaneers Fall, 2-0, to College of Charleston

Mount Pleasant, S.C. (October 27, 2002) - East Tennessee State's women's soccer team fell to the College of Charleston, 2-0, Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point Field. The Cougars scored their first goal of the game at the 17:27 mark as Sydney Strong's shot from just beyond the box sailed into the back of the net to score what would become the game winner. The first period ended with Charleston leading 1-0. In the second period of play Charleston freshman Megan Broderick received a pass from Becca Eddy and scored to put the Cougars up 2-0 in the 53rd minute. Charleston out shot East Tennessee 12-5, and had six corner kicks to the Buccaneers 1. Buccaneer keeper Heather Sanden (Manassas, Va.) had six saves, before leaving the game at the 81:42 mark due to injury. ETSU will host Morehead State in their final match of the regular season on Sunday, November 3 at 1:00. Prior to the game Buccaneer seniors, Lena Summers (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Elizabeth Smith (Arden, N.C.) will be honored.
