Monday, October 14, 2002

Johnson City, Tenn. (October 14, 2002) - East Tennessee State University's men's and women's basketball teams began practice this past weekend for the 2002-2003 season. Head coach Ed DeChellis will look to guide the men to their third straight regular season conference title while the women will look to improve on last year's campaign. East Tennessee State has recorded back-to-back 18-10 seasons, and was a unanimous pick in the preseason coaches and media polls to repeat once again. The men will open up on November 22, at home against Guilford College at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Bucs will return nine letter winners in 2002-2003. Head coach Karen Kemp and her staff has brought in a strong recruiting class to join two talented forwards in senior Misty Copas (Kingsport, Tenn.) and junior Lauren Trantham (Asheville, N.C.). The Lady Bucs will open up the season on November 22, versus Tennessee Tech at 7:00 p.m. in Cookeville, Tenn.
