Lady Bucs wrap up seventh-straight Top 10 with sixth-place finish at Samford Intercollegiate

(March 23, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University women's golf team continued their stellar play with a sixth-place finish in the Samford Intercollegiate Wednesday at the Timberline Golf Club. It is the seventh-straight Top 10 tournament finish for the Lady Bucs, which includes two first-place efforts in their last two events.
Sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.) once again led the Lady Bucs, posting a score of 158 (79-79) and finishing tied for 19th. Barton was nine-strokes off the pace of individual champion Brooke Morgan of UAB, and Jacksonville State took home the tournament championship with a 613 compared to the Lady Bucs score of 643.
As for the rest of the Lady Bucs, sophomore Laura Diaz (Aquadilla, P.R.) finished the day tied for 30th at 16-over, while juniors Robin Downes (Johnson City, Tenn.) and Danielle O'Reilly (Whistler, British Columbia) finished tied in 44th, and sophomore Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada) ended the event in 62nd.
The Lady Bucs will return to action April 5-6 at the Murray State Invitational before preparing for the Southern Conference Championships April 23-25.
